Interesting Autism Stories 2/19

By Aaron Tanner

Instead of writing something this week, I thought I would share a few interesting stories related to the world of Autism/Aspergers.

Last week, the Birmingham International Airport in Birmingham, Alabama opened the world's first sensory inclusive room located in an airport for people with Autism and other sensory disorders. Special thanks to KultureCity for making this dream a reality.

Haley Moss, a young woman with High-Functioning Autism, becomes the first openly Autistic person to practice law in the state of Florida. She graduated law school from the University of Miami and has her own Apartment. Way to go Haley!

Over in the sports world, Armani Williams of Detroit, Michigan became the first NASCAR driver with Autism last summer while Walker Aurand became the first player in Division I College Hockey to be offered a scholarship at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

While there are many negative stories related to Autism, it is nice to hear positive stories of those on the spectrum overcome obstacles and make something of themselves.
